My husband came across an article in Integrity Research Institute's Future Energy News May 2009 issue, on how to treat depression without drugs:

High-Tech Depression Treatments Magnetic and Electrical Impulses "Shock" Brain Into Near-Normal Function by Robert J. Hedaya MD, FAPA, Georgetown University School of Medicine; Sidney H. Kennedy, FRCPC, MBBS, MD University Health Network.
Seems that even the FDA is starting to go back to technologies that predated drugs...
